REDDRESS will host ticketed evening concerts and a programme of free daytime events.

Taking to the REDDRESS evening stage is unique debut collaboration between one of the most soulful Finnish vocalists Emma Salokoski, versatile guitarist Jarmo Saari who is known for his experimental soundscapes and a string quartet from Britten Sinfonia, one of the most dymanic chamber orchestras in Europe whose whose recent collaborations include Nitin Sawhney, Pekka Kuusisto, Efterklang and the Michael Clark Company.

REDDRESS in partnership with Town Hall Hotel & Apartments also offers a set 2 Course Pre-Concert REDMENU for £15 at The Corner Room. Can also be used at lunch time. The Corner Room has a no bookings policy. REDMENU is being served during the REDDRESS 22 - 25 September.

TOGETHERNESS – REDBOOK AND OK TALK BOOK LAUNCH

On the occasion of REDDRESS, The Finnish Institute is publishing REDBOOK, designed and conceived by Company. REDBOOK includes interviews and contributions around all things red from Hel Looks, Bjarke Ingels, Rasmus Nielsen (Superflex), Pekka Kuusisto, Tuomas Nevanlinna, Vuokko Nurmesniemi, Finn Skjödt (Kvadrat), Tuomas Toivonen and Nene Tsuboi. For this launch event, designers Aamu Song and Johan Olin will be in conversation with Anni Puolakka and Jenna Sutela of Helsinki- and Paris-based creative practice OK Do, whose OK Talk Book Helsinki/London also sees its UK launch. The OK Talk book – dominantly white in colour – is a follow-up to the 2010 London Design Festival and Helsinki Design Week talk series which brought together a number of Helsinki and London practitioners, including Aamu Song, to discuss the crossing of boundaries between design, art and other fields. Mixing red and white at York Hall, Company and OK Do celebrate their books in a game of loose associations, presenting stories behind them through a series of texts, images, questions and answers. Both publications are available for purchase at the event.

PUT ON YOUR RED SHOES AND DANCE

Mums, dads and twinkle-toed toddlers are invited to drop in for an afternoon dance party involving a pair of very special dance shoes. The red felt shoes (“Tanssitossut”), designed by REDDRESS designer Aamu Song, enable parents and children aged 2 - 5 to dance together in pairs. Produced in partnership with the V&A Museum of Childhood.

HEL LOOKS & TÖÖLÖ FASHION INSTITUTE DOES REDLOOKS

Sunday 25. September REDDRESS offers festival goers a special REDLOOKS workshop. The workshop is run by Liisa Jokinen and Suvi Saloniemi from the Töölö Fashion Institute, imaginary fashion school based in Helsinki. Liisa Jokinen is also the creator of the Finnish street-style blog Hel Looks. The creative pair have run their innovative workshops previously in Helsinki, inspiring people to make interesting and contemporary pieces from recycled materials. In Sunday’s workshop they instruct how to make heart-shaped accessories from spare pieces of REDDRESS’s red Divina fabric by Kvadrat. The hearts are an homage to the legendary Finnish textile artist Annikki Karvinen and Comme des Garçons' PLAY. Come along, get inspired and take a piece of REDDRESS to keep with you forever. No skills required, just an open heart.
